1. Start With a Pretty Tablecloth

The venue will likely provide white or cream colored linens for on top of each table. Topping each of these with a light, romantic tablecloth adds beauty and style. I personally think that the best way to obtain these tablecloths is by borrowing them from family members and friends (who are invited to the wedding, of course!) Mixing and matching the borrowed linens adds a sentimental quirkiness to your reception's look. A second option is to scour second-hand stores and garage sales throughout the year and snag pretty linens for less than a few dollars each. A third way is to purchase these online or during store clearances, again, for no more than $5 to $10 each.

2. Add Candles

In the center of the table, arrange one or two large glass candle holders with simple candles placed inside. Surround the largest with smaller candle holders- the more varied the sizes, the more interesting. Candle holders in colored glass is even more beautiful. Again, if you are able to find these at thrift stores or borrow from family and friends, that is the best option. Otherwise, you can purchase these candle holders and candles at the dollar store. In total, if you have 5 candles, it should cost $5.00 at the dollar store for the holders, and the candles can be found in packages that average out about $3.00 for each table.

3. Finish With Candy Dishes

Candy dishes can go with the feminine, romantic theme. Depression-style glass bowls, China teacups or dainty plates would each look beautiful for this need. A small spoon should be set at the dish to scoop out classic candies, such as lemon-drops or caramels. As with the tablecloths and candle holders, these little dishes could be borrowed or purchased second-hand. If not, again I recommend searching at clearance sales at department stores. If so, expect to spend about $3.00 per dish or teacup, and $2 for the spoon. Add another $1 worth of candy per table, when purchased in bulk.
